Welsh Rarebit

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut the bread into thin slices and shape them into diamonds or squares.

  2. Toast the bread slices until golden brown.

  3. Lightly butter the hot toast.

  4. Using a teaspoon, dip boiling water onto the unbuttered side of the toast to moisten it slightly.

  5. Place each slice on a separate hot plate, one for each person.

  6. Sprinkle a little coarse sea salt over the toast.

  7. Pour enough melted cheese over the toast to cover it completely.

  8. Serve immediately to prevent the cheese from hardening and the toast from cooling.
