Honey Cakes

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Warm the butter slightly to soften it.

  2. Beat the butter very hard, then add the grated nutmeg.

  3. Gradually mix in the flour to form a stiff dough.

  4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of half an inch using a rolling pin.

  5. Cut the dough with a tumbler dipped in flour.

  6. Place the cut pieces on slightly buttered shallow tins.

  7. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) until well done.
