Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Mushrooms
Form the main body of the dish and set its texture once cooked.
Best olive oil
Covers the mushrooms, adding richness and helping keep air away from them.
Garlic
Adds aroma that deepens as the mushrooms sit and cook in the cans.

The step that matters

Seal the cans and boil them in a hot water bath for 1.5 hours. Heat must penetrate the whole can to destroy spoilage microbes. Sealing keeps air and contaminants out, and a sealed can that is underprocessed can spoil or become unsafe.

Swap the clove

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (mushroom, garlic, olive):

  1. Thymefits better
  2. Rosemaryfits better
  3. Oreganofits better
  4. Clovethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against mushroom, garlic, olive. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
