Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Lentils
Break down when cooked, giving the puree its body and thick texture.
Broth
Supplies liquid and savory flavor, and thins the puree to the desired consistency.
Butter
Adds fat, giving the finished soup a richer, smoother mouthfeel.

The step that matters

Pressing the cooked mixture through a fine sieve. Sieving breaks down remaining fibres and skins that cooking leaves behind, producing a smooth puree. If the mixture is not pressed thoroughly, the soup will taste grainy.

Swap the lentils
