Steamed Cherries

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Fill fruit jars with seeded cherries and place them in a large kettle or boiler.

  2. Add cold water to the kettle without tipping the jars and bring it to a boil.

  3. Steam the cherries until heated through, then remove the jars and drain off the juice.

  4. Dissolve sugar in a rich syrup and pour it over the cherries.

  5. Place the rubbers and lids on the jars, but do not fasten tightly until they steam a little longer.

  6. Remove the jars from the water once done.
