Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Coffee sugar
Dissolves into syrup that cooks down and sets into the creamy candy structure.
Cold water
Dissolves the sugar so the syrup can be boiled evenly before cooling.
Chocolate
Forms a coating over the candy balls that hardens as it cools.

The step that matters

Stirring the mixture until creamy after cooling. Stirring while the boiled syrup cools causes tiny sugar crystals to form, giving a smooth, creamy texture. The candy must be shaped before it hardens, so timing matters.
