Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set when cooked, forming the body of the tortillas.
Butter
Adds richness and helps the tortillas brown in the pan.
Bread crumbs
Coat the rolled tortillas to add a crisp, browned exterior.

The step that matters

Cook until set before rolling. If the egg is still runny when rolled, it will tear and leak. Fully setting the egg first gives the tortilla enough firmness to roll tightly without breaking.

Swap the onion

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (egg, parsley, pepper, butter, bread):

  1. Shallotfits better
  2. Capsicumfits better
  3. Chivefits better
  4. Onionthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against egg, parsley, pepper, butter, bread. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
