Jam Turnovers

Oven, in the book's wordsA brisk oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a brisk oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Roll out pastry trimmings to ¼ inch thick.

  2. Stamp into rounds using a small saucer.

  3. Spread a little jam on one half of each round.

  4. Moisten the edges with water and fold the other half over.

  5. Press the edges together, brush with water, and sprinkle with white sugar.

  6. Bake on a baking sheet in a brisk oven at 400°F (200°C) until golden.
