Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point. The book gives no cooking times either; the times in the steps were added in transcription, so check for doneness rather than trusting the clock.

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together.

  2. Add the well-beaten egg and mix well.

  3. Sift the flour and baking powder together.

  4. Gradually add the flour and milk to the mixture.

  5. Finally, fold in the currants.

  6. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan lined with parchment paper.

  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 40 minutes.
