Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a quick oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure. The book gives no cooking times; the times in the steps were added in transcription, so check for doneness rather than trusting the clock.

  1. Cream the butter and gradually add the sugar.

  2. Beat the eggs (yolks and whites together) and add to the butter and sugar mixture.

  3. Sift the baking powder with the flour and add it along with the milk.

  4. Spread the batter onto buttered baking tins.

  5. Bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven for about 15 minutes.
