Poke, Pigeon-berry, Garget Root
Ingredients
Directions
Gather ripe poke berries and express the juice.
Mix equal parts of the expressed juice and a strong decoction of rattle weed root.
Add enough brandy to preserve the mixture.
Take small doses, from 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon, three to four times a day.
For an ointment, strain a decoction of the roots and mix with lard.
Simmer the mixture over low heat until the watery parts evaporate.
