Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a slow oven”. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Cook the macaroni in milk until tender.

  2. Layer half of the macaroni in a pie dish and add bits of butter and a sprinkle of cheese.

  3. Place a layer of beefsteak on top of the macaroni.

  4. Add another layer of macaroni, followed by more beefsteak.

  5. Finish with the remaining macaroni and top with cheese.

  6. Bake in a slow oven at 300°F (150°C) until heated through.
