What each ingredient does

Raspberries
Provide the main fruit flavor and aroma, and colour the liquid.
Vinegar
Adds acidity that gives the shrub its sharp, tangy character and helps preserve it.
Sugar
Balances the acidity with sweetness and helps preserve the syrup.
