Ingredients

Directions

  1. Remove fat, gristle, and bones from the meat and cut it into small pieces.

  2. Slightly salt the meat and place it in a kettle with enough water to nearly cover it.

  3. Simmer the meat until it is almost ready to break into pieces.

  4. Add the onions and raw potatoes to the kettle.

  5. If available, add a little soup stock.

  6. Cook until the potatoes are done.

  7. Thicken the liquid or gravy with flour.

  8. Serve the stew attractively on slices of crisp toast.
