Coffee, Simple Method
Ingredients
Directions
Prepare
Make a small iron ring to fit the top of the coffee pot and sew a small muslin bag to it.
Warm the coffee pot with boiling water, then discard the water.
Brew and serve
Place the ground coffee into the muslin bag and pour boiling water over it gradually.
Close the lid and let the water filter through.
Remove the bag and serve the coffee.

What each ingredient does
- Ground coffee
- Provides the main flavour of the drink, extracted by the hot water as it filters through.
- Boiling water
- Extracts the flavour and aroma from the ground coffee as it passes through the muslin bag.
The step that matters
Pour the boiling water gradually. Pouring slowly lets the water saturate the grounds evenly and extract flavour steadily, while pouring too fast can wash through under-extracted coffee or overflow the bag.
