Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set to form the omelette's structure and body as they cook.
Sheep's kidney
Provides the rich, savoury filling that gives the omelette its main flavour.
Butter
Adds fat for richness and helps the omelette cook without sticking.
Milk or rich gravy
Adds moisture that keeps the omelette soft and tender.

The step that matters

Cooking the omelette before filling. Eggs cooked over too much heat turn tough and dry, and the omelette must be tender enough to fold around the filling without cracking.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (butter, pepper, milk, egg):

  1. Nutmegfits about as well
  2. Parsleythe original
  3. Cinnamonfits about as well
  4. Tarragonfits less well

Fit is the average pairing score against butter, pepper, milk, egg. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
