Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Thicken the custard base as they set gently over low heat.
Milk
Forms the liquid base of the custard that the eggs thicken.
Fresh strawberries
Provide the main flavour and fruit body of the ice cream.
Cream
Adds fat for a rich, smooth texture that resists large ice crystals.
Sugar
Sweetens the mixture and softens the frozen texture.

The step that matters

Stirring during freezing. Stirring while the mixture freezes breaks up forming ice crystals, keeping the ice cream smooth rather than grainy or icy.
