Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Heavy cream
Provides fat and body, giving the ice cream its rich, smooth texture.
Powdered sugar
Adds sweetness and lowers the freezing point, keeping the ice cream soft and scoopable.
Ripe peaches
Supply the main fruit flavor and moisture to the mixture.

The step that matters

Dissolve the sugar completely in the cream. Sugar that stays undissolved can leave a gritty texture in frozen cream. Fully dissolving it first gives a smooth, even base before the peaches are added and the mixture is churned.

Swap the peach

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, sugar):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Raspberryfits better
  4. Peachthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
