Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Skim and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.

  2. Spread a layer of tomatoes in the bottom of a baking dish and season well.

Layer and bake

  1. Add a layer of coarse bread crumbs over the tomatoes and dot with plenty of butter.

  2. Repeat layers until the dish is full, finishing with bread crumbs on top.

  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
