Note on Canning Fruits
Ingredients
Directions
Wash glass cans, lids, and rubbers thoroughly.
Scald cans and lids with hot water, pouring it inside and outside to prevent cracking.
Let the cans stand in water to sweeten.
Dip the jar in hot water, rolling it around, and lift it out with a cloth.
Fill the jar with fruit close to the kettle.
Wipe the jar, place on rubber and lid, and tighten the lid as much as possible.
Tip the jar upside down and let it stand overnight.
Check the jars again in the morning and tighten the lids if necessary.
Use good quality rubbers, preferably new ones if old ones are questionable.
Store the fruit in a cold, dark place.
