Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Tea
Provides the strong, aromatic liquid base that carries the flavor of the punch.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and helps keep the frozen mixture softer and less icy.
Orange juice
Adds fruity sweetness and aroma to the tea base.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the flavor and balances the sugar.
Egg white
Beaten air and foam give the frozen mixture a lighter, more open texture.
Whipped cream
Adds fat and creaminess, softening the texture of the punch.

The step that matters

Fold in the egg white before the mixture is fully frozen. A partly frozen mixture is thick enough to hold the beaten egg white evenly while still being workable. If it is fully frozen, the egg white cannot be folded in smoothly, and the airy texture it adds is lost.

Swap the orange

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (tea, lemon, sugar, egg, cream):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Orangethe original
  3. Raspberryfits about as well
  4. Peachfits less well

Fit is the average pairing score against tea, lemon, sugar, egg, cream. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
