Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Trout (in the method)
Is the main protein, stuffed and cooked whole so it stays moist within its skin.
Truffles
Provide a strong earthy aroma that flavours the forcemeat.
Mushrooms
Add moisture and savoury depth to the forcemeat filling.
Breadcrumbs
Bind the forcemeat and form the crisp golden coating on the fish.
Egg
Acts as a binder so the breadcrumb coating adheres to the trout.

The step that matters

Fry the trout thoroughly until golden brown. The egg and breadcrumb coat must brown and crisp in hot fat; wiping the trout dry first keeps moisture from steaming the coating and making it soggy or loose.
