Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a quick oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Make a nice pastry dough.

  2. Roll out the dough and cut it into squares about 5 inches on each side.

  3. Place a spoonful of apple sauce in the center of each square.

  4. Moisten the edges of the dough.

  5. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.

  6. Glaze the tops with milk.

  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) until golden brown.
