Escaloped Onions

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Boil the onions until tender, then drain.

  2. Chop the onions coarsely with a knife and fork.

  3. Mix in the bread crumbs, chopped walnuts or pecans, and rich milk.

  4. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. Sprinkle buttered crumbs over the top.

  6. Bake in a casserole at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes, until the crumbs are browned.
