Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Season the mutton slices with salt and pepper.

  3. In a baking dish, place a layer of bread crumbs.

  4. Add a layer of seasoned mutton slices.

  5. Top with a layer of strained oysters.

  6. Add a layer of tomato sauce or brown sauce.

  7. Repeat the layers, finishing with a thick layer of bread crumbs.

  8. Bake until the top is brown.
