Baked Tomatoes

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Scrape out the centers of the tomatoes.

  3. Fill each tomato with a raw egg.

  4. Grate American cheese over the egg in each tomato.

  5. Sprinkle cracker crumbs on top and drizzle with melted butter.

  6. Season with coarse sea salt to taste.

  7. Bake for twenty minutes and serve hot.
