To Preserve Milk

  1. Ensure bottles are perfectly clean, sweet, and dry.

  2. Draw milk from the cow into the bottles and cork them immediately.

  3. Fasten the corks with pack-thread or wire.

  4. Spread a little straw on the bottom of a boiler and place the bottles with straw between them.

  5. Fill the boiler with cold water and heat it until it begins to boil.

  6. Draw the fire and let the whole gradually cool.
