What each ingredient does

Loose tea
Provides the main flavour and aroma as its compounds infuse into the water.

The step that matters

Let it stand for 15 minutes. Steeping time controls how much flavour and tannin leach from the leaves; too short gives weak tea, too long makes it bitter and astringent.
