Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs
What each ingredient does
- Gelatin
- Sets the cream into a firm, sliceable structure as it cools.
- Eggs
- Egg yolks thicken the milk into a custard, and whites add lightness to the set cream.
- Milk
- Forms the liquid base that the gelatin and eggs set into a creamy texture.
- Sugar
- Sweetens the cream and helps balance the flavor of the eggs and milk.
The step that matters
Allow to boil while stirring continuously. Egg yolks can curdle or scramble if overheated, and constant stirring spreads heat evenly so the custard thickens smoothly.
