Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Dissolve the chocolate in the milk.

  2. Beat the butter and sugar together until creamy.

  3. Add the dissolved chocolate and eggs, and mix well.

  4. Sprinkle in the flour mixed with baking powder and stir lightly.

  5. If necessary, add vanilla to the milk.

  6. For the icing, dissolve ½ pound of chocolate in slightly less than ⅓ cup of water.

  7. Add ½ pound of icing sugar, sifted, and stir over gentle heat.

  8. Pour the icing over the cake, avoiding overheating to prevent dullness.
