What each ingredient does

Leg of lamb
Forms the main centerpiece, cooked through by boiling in water.
Loin steaks
Egg and bread crumb coating crisps and browns when fried in a pan.
Egg
Binds the bread crumbs to the loin steaks so the coating sticks.
Bread crumbs
Form a crisp, golden coating on the loin steaks when fried.
Spinach
Softens when boiled and stewed in butter, becoming tender and moist.
Butter
Adds richness and flavor to the stewed spinach and the served butter.

The step that matters

Frying the coated loin steaks. Frying over steady heat sets the egg and crumb coating into a crisp, browned crust. Too little heat leaves it greasy and pale, while too much heat can scorch the crumbs before the meat is cooked through.

Swap the orange

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (lamb, bread, egg, spinach, butter):

  1. Lemonfits better
  2. Coconutfits better
  3. Avocadofits better
  4. Orangethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against lamb, bread, egg, spinach, butter. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
