What each ingredient does

Leg of beef
Provides meat and bone that release flavour and body into the broth as it simmers.
Water
Acts as the cooking liquid that extracts flavour and gelatin from the beef.
Bread
Toasted and diced, it adds texture and soaks up the broth when served in the tureen.

Swap the mace

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (beef, parsley, bread):

  1. Marjoramfits better
