Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Green truffles
Provide a strong earthy aroma that perfumes the fowl and the cooking liquid.
Bacon
Adds fat and savory flavor as it renders over the fowl during cooking.
Strong gravy
Adds body and concentrated savory flavor to the final sauce.
Fowl
Provides the main protein, which becomes tender through long, gentle simmering.

The step that matters

Simmer slowly for 2 hours. A gentle simmer keeps the fowl tender and the liquid clear. Boiling vigorously toughens meat proteins and makes the cooking liquid cloudy.

Swap the mace
