Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Chicken (white meat)
Provides the protein and flavor that form the body of the broth once pounded.
Water
Extracts flavor from the chicken and forms the liquid base of the broth.

The step that matters

Boil gently for a few minutes. Boiling too hard can make the broth cloudy and can toughen the proteins, so a gentle simmer gives a smoother result. Thickness is reached by reduction, so check the consistency as it cooks.

Swap the nutmeg

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (chicken, meat, lemon):

  1. Thymefits better
  2. Rosemaryfits better
  3. Marjoramfits better
  4. Nutmegthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against chicken, meat, lemon. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
