To Make Butter
Ingredients
Directions
Ensure all vessels for milk are clean and sweet.
Use large tin pans for milk to allow cream to rise.
Wash empty vessels in cold water, then fill with scalding hot water until nearly cold.
Alternate the position of pans filled with hot water for effective cleaning.
Wash vessels again in hot water and dry them in the sun.
Occasionally scour with soft soap and sand, then rinse and dry.
For milk strainers, use a tin basin with a fine sieve or a cloth over a basin.
