Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream
Whipped into soft peaks, it traps air and gives the dessert a light, creamy body.
Sheet gelatine
Sets the liquid cream into a firm, sliceable shape once chilled.
Castor sugar
Adds sweetness and balances the richness of the cream.
Vanilla essence
Adds the main aroma and flavour of the dessert.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatine fully before straining it into the cream. Undissolved gelatine leaves specks and weak spots in the set dessert. Mixing it in while it is still liquid, and not already cold and thick, lets it spread evenly through the cream so it sets smoothly.
