Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Fresh coffee
Provides the main coffee flavour, extracted into the hot water during steeping.
Egg
Its proteins coagulate as the mixture boils, gathering the grounds so the coffee clears.

The step that matters

Pour off the clear coffee and boil it again. Once the grounds have steeped, pouring off the liquid without disturbing the sediment keeps the coffee clear. Reboiling then brings it back to serving temperature.

“What each ingredient does” and “The step that matters” were written by Claude from this recipe’s own method and reviewed in samples by CompKitchen.
