Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Rice
Cooked in milk and then set, it forms the firm body of the fritters.
Milk
Cooks the rice until tender and adds moisture and softness to the mixture.
Eggs
Bind the cooled rice mixture so it holds its shape when cut and fried.
Butter
Adds richness and, when frying, browns the outside of the fritters.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and helps the fried exterior brown.

The step that matters

Let it cool before cutting. The cooked rice must set fully so the pieces hold their shape. Cutting or dipping it while still warm and soft risks the fritters breaking apart in the hot butter.
