Household Bread

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a clean pan or wooden trough, place the flour and make a hole in the center.

  2. In another pan, mix the yeast with warm water and salt, then strain it through a sieve.

  3. Add a little flour to the yeast mixture to create a batter consistency.

  4. Pour the batter into the hole in the flour, sprinkle some dry flour on top, and cover with a cloth.

  5. Set in a warm place to rise until the top cracks.

  6. Once risen, mix in enough warm water to form a dough that is neither too stiff nor too slack.

  7. Knead the dough thoroughly until it is compact and moist, adding dry flour if it sticks.

  8. Shape the dough into a lump, place it back in the pan, and sprinkle with flour to rise again for about 30 minutes.
