Tarts with Preserves

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Roll out the puff pastry and place it in the bottom of a tart dish.

  3. Add the preserve, filling it to about 1 inch from the top of the dish.

  4. Wet the edge of the pastry with water using a brush.

  5. Cut thin strips of pastry and lay them across the top to cover the preserve.

  6. Create a border of pastry around the dish.

  7. Bake until golden brown.

  8. Once done, sprinkle with fine sugar and glaze if desired.
