Baked Plum Pudding

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add chopped suet, raisins, currants, sugar, and candied peel.

  4. Beat the egg with a tablespoon of milk and add to the mixture.

  5. Moisten the mixture with more milk if necessary; it should be very stiff.

  6. Grease a baking tin and pour in the mixture.

  7. Bake for about 1 hour until done.

  8. Cut into squares, sift sugar over, and serve.
