Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Place raspberries on a flat dish.

  2. Crush the sugar and place it on a separate flat dish.

  3. Heat both dishes in a 350°F (175°C) oven until thoroughly hot.

Combine and store

  1. Mix the raspberries and sugar together.

  2. Transfer the mixture into bottles and seal with corks or paper.

  3. Store in a dark place.

What each ingredient does

Raspberries
Provide the fruit base and flavor that the preserve is built around.
Preserving sugar
Sweetens the fruit and helps preserve it by drawing out moisture and limiting spoilage.
