Fruit to Preserve

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Rub the fruit with a clean cloth to remove dirt.

  2. For small fruits like strawberries, lay them on a cloth and lightly rub with a second cloth.

  3. Use copper utensils exclusively for boiling the fruit.

  4. Clean and dry bottles and jars in the sun or open air a few days before use.

  5. If unsure about cleanliness, burn a piece of brown paper in the jar to sanitize it.

  6. Fill the jars with fruit, covering them just with syrup.

  7. Soak a piece of paper in brandy and place it over the fruit before sealing the jar.

  8. Seal the jars and let them sit for a week before using.
