Mr. Forsyth's Method of Preserving Walnuts

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Allow walnuts to fall from the trees and dry in a dry, open place.

  2. Pack walnuts in jars or boxes in layers with fine clear sand.

  3. Store in a dry place, avoiding excessive heat.

  4. Before serving, wipe off the sand.

  5. If walnuts are shriveled, soak them in a mixture of milk and water for 6 to 8 hours to plump them up.
