Hashed Beef or Mutton

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix the sauces, pepper, salt, cayenne, Port wine, and chopped Capsicum with the leftover gravy from the previous day.

  2. In a stewpan, combine 1½ pints of broth or water with the gravy and add the sliced onion. Boil for about 10 minutes.

  3. In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of flour with a little water to form a paste, then stir it into the broth. Boil for another 5-10 minutes.

  4. Strain the mixture through a sieve and keep it warm by the fire until ready to add the meat.

  5. Just before serving, stir in 1 teaspoon of finely chopped parsley for added flavor.
