What each ingredient does

Fresh ground coffee
Provides the main coffee flavour and aroma that the brew is built on.
Isinglass clips
Collects fine grounds as it settles, leaving the coffee clearer.

The step that matters

Returning the poured-out coffee to the pot. Pouring the coffee out and back several times mixes the brew and wets the grounds so flavour extracts evenly. Pouring too few times can leave the coffee uneven in strength.
