Fish Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Remove the skin and bones from the fish.

  2. Layer the fish in a dish, seasoning each layer with equal amounts of pepper, coarse sea salt, mace, and allspice.

  3. Save some of the liquor the fish was boiled in, and boil the skin and bones in it for 15 minutes.

  4. Strain the liquid through a sieve and let it settle, then pour it over the fish in the dish.

  5. Cover the dish with puff pastry and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
