Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a slow oven”. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. Core the apples and remove some pulp without cutting through the flower end.

  3. Fill the cavity with three raisins and sugar.

  4. Place the apples in a pan with a small amount of water and bake until tender.

  5. Once cooled, fill the cavity with chopped walnuts.

  6. Top with whipped cream and serve.
