What each ingredient does

Black currants
Provide the main fruit flavor and color as they steep in the whiskey.
Whiskey
Extracts flavor from the currants and acts as the base spirit that preserves the cider.
Loaf sugar
Adds sweetness that balances the tartness and strength of the spirit.
Cloves
Add warm, spiced aroma to the finished drink.
