For Crystallizing Grass

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Dissolve 1½ pounds of rock alum in 3 pints of boiling water.

  2. Allow the solution to cool completely.

  3. In a wide-mouthed vessel, hang in a few grasses at a time.

  4. Ensure the grasses are not too heavy to avoid breaking the stems.

  5. If desired, reheat the alum solution to add more grasses.

  6. Add a little food coloring for variety if desired.
